Morale table quickly drafted in a waiting room. I'll test it tonight but I'm open to critique.
Roll morale dR every time the monsters take a sizeable blow.
1. Lash out. Desperate, mindless attack. Double damage all around.
2. Rout. Flee, leaving stuff behind, doors open, etc.
3. Surrender. If it is not accepted, step up morale die.
4. Retreat. Pull back in an orderly manner to regroup.
5. Panic. Do something stupid this turn.
6. Hunker down. Fight defensively, look for cover, etc.
7. The best defense. Take risks to win quickly.
8. Frenzy. Launch an all-out attack: double damage to PCs.
9. Feint. Retreat to set a trap or ambush.
10.Insight. Exploit a weakness (killing the caster, the lights, etc.)
11. Second wind. Reroll monster HD, keep HP total if better than current HP.
12. Taste of blood. Next check against them is made at a disadvantage.
Coming soon: hirelings morale table.

Gear tables for Cryo Arabica my Sword & Planet skin for MM. Still needs a bit of work. Not included (yet) are some additional tables for generating alien species and weird locations. For now just the gear.
Hello there.
Hello there.
We just finish our twelve hours little one-shot... so I can put oneline all the rules and tables I made with the MM mecanisms.
You can find a very bad writing document in the handouts section of the Macchiato Midget Drive
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B0FabNkczQcqQ045X3FWdnJzOU0
In this document, you can find :
- my homemade rules to manage a trial
- the secret stash table (maybe the most funny and simple thing I made)
- the death-plague's rules and tables
- tables to manage treasure finding or pick-pocket and burglary winings
- differents dR usings
- tables and rules for potions, parchments, magic rings, magic amulets, spells,...
- a very special playing character : Cerbère the hellhound
- a lot of english faults because I french
I hope it woild be fun, interseting and usefull.
See you soon for more MM stuff !

I'm trying to think of actions associated with each statistic (STR, DEX, INT, CHA, CON, WIS) that can be used in a fight. Looking for suggestions with effects.
For example, during fights (from rulebook):
STR is use for melee, potential for damage.
DEX is used for missile, potential for damage.
INT is used for wizard spells, potential for effect.
Any suggestions for CHA, WIS, and CON?
For CHA I was thinking negotiation or intimidation (suggested by rulebook), step down morale dR. Monster response depends on whether character is negotiating or intimidating.
CON maybe as a stamina check, step down morale dR or pass for advantage, fail for disadvantage on next roll.
WIS to gain a tactical advantage, pass for advantage on next roll.

When three 2nd level PCs fight two wererats (3 HD) to get no Disadvantage, and you make one roll and miss, does everyone take the same damage? Or am I seriously misinterpreting the 'adding people into the fight' rule?
Edited: I suppose the logical way would be two fights. One at Advantage, one at Disadvantage.

Hello MM addicts !

Hello MM addicts !
I’m very proud to declare than the Great Gear Tables Contest begins now !
You want to play with the MM system in different universes so create your own tables for character’s creation.
Contest’s rules :
1- Specify your universe (pirates, star wars, cyberpunk, kung fu stories, hooror in the 20’s…)
2- Create your tables
3- Post them here and send me at macchiatomidget@gmail.com(I will put all the tables in the MMdrive)
Maybe we can stop the contest on the first of march.
Eric will choose totally arbitrarily a winner.
The winner will receive, by post, an original coffee painting of his choice (you can see them in the MMdrive).
MMdrive is here :

Spellcaster or potions maker.

Spellcaster or potions maker.
This a little reflexion about the differences beetwen a spellcaster (wizard, priest, druid,…) and a potions maker (alchemist, herborist,…).
The spellcaster use magic to create instant effect but it costs power or life.
The potions maker use magical ingredients to create potions he can use when he needs.
In the freeform world of MM, both of them can do exactly the same effects but it could be interesting to differentiate how they do…
For spellcasters, the MM rules are perfectly clear and perfectly effective : he casts his spells with a stat roll (with or without advantage or disadvantage) and he looses number of HP equal to the level of the spell.
For the potions makers, I propose that he can cast his spell without roll any dice. He just uses the potion. Maybe, he can roll DEX if he has to target something with the flask or CON if the potion could have dangerous effect…
The stat roll is when the potion is created and instead of loosing HP, the potions maker looses money… because he has to buy magical ingredients, plants, flasks…
So to make d4 potions :
Level 1 “spells” costs CP
Level 2 “spells” costs SP
Level 3 “spells” costs EP
Level 4 “spells” costs GP
Level 5 “spells” costs PP
Level 6 “spells” costs MP
To have more potions (d6, d8) you have to roll one more time the money dR.
So let resume :
The spellcaster use magic to create instant effect with a stat roll and a loss of HP.
The potions maker use magical ingredients to create potions with a stat roll and after he can use them when he needs as an instant effect. He looses money for create them and he has to watch out for his encumbrance but he (or everyone else) can cast the spell instantly without a stat roll…

I've spent a good chunk of the day integrating the feedback you beautiful people have given recently. (Did I say thank you? No? Well thank you.)
Below are the much requested spellcasting examples.
I need to give the whole thing a hard thorough look, but it wouldn't be entirely unreasonable to expect a new version of the PDF in the coming weeks.
Except for some minor tweaks, most of converting MM to other genres is coming up with the Equipment tables.

Reflections: it worked quite well but for newbies quite a lot of examples and guiding was needed, but they had fun and want to do it again. I really like traits but I think a random background roll would help flesh out the characters a bit. I love random equipment rolls and dR. I may have simplified combat by accident. I really like the d12 reaction table, used it heaps. I don't think I used the random encounter rules properly.
I have a question too. After chargen what is Armour and Weapon Training for?

dR Exploration Table
dR Exploration Table
Following conservations with Doc Dandy and Sean Wills, I started thinking about a simple way to mix discoveries, dangers, and encounters in dungeon adventures.
Here's a draft:
1. Monster ambush.
2. Monster patrol.
3. Monster camp.
4. Trap!
5. Natural danger.
6. Prisoners and their guardians.
7. Dangerous flora or fauna.
8. Clues about a nearby room.
9. Monster bodies. How did they die?
10. Visitors. Friend or foe?
11. Traces of monster activity.
12. Unguarded treasure.
If the die goes below d4, some dungeon wide enemy is triggered.
You'd have to add in your dungeon's specifics, editing the table or maybe writing separate ones for monsters, traps, and the like.
Pros. I t adds some more randomness to underground (and overland, and urban) exploration. It also make up for low prep time and/or vanilla adventures.
Cons. As time goes by and the dR gets stepped down, you'd end up with a lit less variety. But that's already how encounters work.
Thoughts?

Dungeon risk dice. So something happens if the dice is 3 or less. What if it's 4 or more? Nothing? I tried it and was a bit frustated considering you don't have anything to say to the players...

As I have said - I have been working on my own hack of hacks.
As I have said - I have been working on my own hack of hacks. Well a lot of the changes that have become part of my project evolved from my house rules of the White Hack and Macchiato Monsters.
I figured I would share them here for other people to gain inspiration from, use them in their own games, or what have you.
Anyway, here they are.
- Risk die drops as per TBH, on a 1-2
- Magic does not use HP, it comes from a seperate Mana pool
- Armor has a static (low) damage reduction
- Resolution mechanic same as TBH, player rolls under attribute to do something and rolls the same to avoid the monsters attack on seperate rolls. Referee only rolls for monsters damage
- Adjusted bonus actions to level 5 and 9 respectfully
- Every level the characters gain an additional HD + can choose one of the options
- Basic Coin System
That is all off of the top of my head

Hey my fellow MM fans, as I have stated randomly I have been working on a hack of my own that started out as just a black hack hack with my house rules and all but it has quickly turned into a Frankenstein hack of all kinds of other hacks and some amazing parts and inspiration from MM.
In my project, I would love to provide a list of example specialist trainings and their effects.
I think it would be awesome to turn the list into community content and I'd love to give a shout out to the MM G+ community in the credits.
So, I'd love to see what specialist trainings people have come up for anyone who wants to participate.

I have been reading and hacking the PDF for some time now for an upcoming project I am working on but I am not really a PDF guy...But it finally happened...
6+ weeks after I ordered my books finally came in yesterday. I would love to see these on lulu for the American fans if at all possible.

There is a new version of Extra Shot in the Dropbox folder where you got the first one. Not a lot of progress on the die drops I'm afraid, but I just finished a series of relationship tables for new characters and the much awaited carousing table! Both are somewhat raw and totally untested.
Also a table to convert normal gp amounts in coin dR terms.

Lycanthropy in MM

Lycanthropy in MM
I got to think about lycanthropes in the current system. This will be of interest to Docteur Chestel.
Cursed! If you lose more than half your HP to a werebeast, make a CON check to avoid catching the disease.
Changing. When infected, you can change with a successful WIS check. You have a Lycanthropy dR that starts at d4 and is stepped up every time you gain a level.
Roll it whenever:
- You change to and from you animal shape
- You are in presence of a stimulus (moonlight, blood, cheese, honey cakes, etc. depending on your form of lycanthropy)
On 1-3, you give in partially to your animal instincts. Roleplay it.
If your dR is stepped down to nothing, you lose control (and change if you hadn't already). The referee gets to veto your actions. They can also announce you black out and fast forward to whenever you wake up.
The dR refreshed with a couple of days rest, usually between adventures.
When in animal or hybrid form, you gain the following benefits:
- regeneration 1 hp every turn (unless wounded by magical or silver weapons)
- an extra bite attack (d6)
- the trait werebeast that lets you run faster, have better senses, etc.
Is there a difference between a magic focus and spell components?
Is there a difference between a magic focus and spell components? Does a focus have a dR? Is it the same as the component dR listed at the same price?

Personal Goals
Personal Goals
I'm learning a lot by being a player in MM games. Both referees I play with use the rules in innovative ways, adding their own spin to the cream on my coffee.
One thing guillaume jentey does is personal goals. Players decide of a goal for their character, independently of what the party is doing. Last night we had things like Get groomed (Docteur Chestel plays a hellhound) or See a naked woman (I play a preteen thief).
I wouldn't recommend having more than one character goal active at any time for every player (but I like my level progression slow - YMMV). In any case, it works wonders to push players in unexpected and interesting directions. Give it a try!

A 'friend' might be considering using MM for a modern setting. He's (NOT ME) thinking of giving money Risk Dice, but only operate with three types of money
Coins
Bills
Credit Cards
So you could have
A pocket of change D4
A wad of bills D8
A suitcase of crisp notes D10
A Dubai First Royale Mastercard (that's the one with a diamond on it, bro) D20
(Different currencies is a headache too far).
What is he missing?
