How expansive are your Traits? I generally think two words that have a fairly obvious connection, or form a whole.
So Eric Nieudan's Singing Gnome isn't just a Gnome that can Sing, but part of a tribe/species of Singing Gnomes.
That's what I try to do as well. In the case of background and origin traits, I suppose you could have a few more words, like Waterdeep Street Urchin or Veteran of the Red Crusade.
