Working on a hack with warbands. How do you play followers? Do you create a quick character sheet or do you use them only with minimal features like dR and traits?
Yep. You may also want to keep track of their equipment and weapons. In Roll20 I've found it easier to make a character sheet for recurring followers, but IRL I think it'd be overkill.
Sure! Finally I used dR for every follower plus, depending on their speciality, one important stat (Force for a fighter, Dex for a shooter, etc.)
Now i've got another question : I don't understand clearly stat check for followers (p27 of the rulebook). Using 10, is ok, but I don't understand what follows : "10+dR".
Do I need to roll dR to know my target number before doing my stat check? If it's the case, it could be really unbalanced if I obtain 10 or 12 on my dR (total : 20-22!). No need to test my stat after that...
To make it simple, MM assumes that every follower has 10 in all their stats. If, as a player, you want them to have a better than 50% chance to achieve anything dangerous, you can roll their morale dR and add the result to the stat.
With a high morale follower it's a good thing, as you can get a very high chance of success as you mention (a 20 is always a failure, so it's never automatic). But there is always a good chance that the dR is stepped down. As always, it's a matter of evaluating risk and reward.
A dR and a single ability is usually enough.

Wanting to avoid too much book-keeping, I agree it's the right thing to do. Thanks guys!
ReplyDeleteNo probs. Don't forget that players should be in charge of their followers - don't make it your job on top of everything else!

Some clarifications Eric Nieudan, please?

Understood! Thanks! ;)
