Obviously writing it all down as part of a blog post made the process a lot slower. With paper and a physical copy of the book I imagine it would go like lightning.
This dwarf looks like a great starting character! I tend to be stricter than you on traits (it's either race or occupation), but then I'm generous when it comes to giving advantage. Your mileage and all these things. I'll have to check the book to answer your question about the dR of quality equipment. Sleep is sorely needed now, hope you can wait till tomorrow.
I'm that sort of guy who would do something horrible like giving everyone a free trait reflecting species and background and then let them handle occupation and faction with in game traits. :)
