In what other contexts do you use risk die?
For example, the rulebook mentions a dungeon risk die where something happens when it steps below d4. What are some other things? A chase? Solving a puzzle?
I remember someone was using a risk die for a trial, but I can't remember how they handled it.
Some thoughts:
ReplyDeleteTrap risk die: dR rolled for each person in order who triggers the trap. dR is damage. Good for traps that could "slow down" (pendulum traps) or "run out of ammo."
Puzzle risk die: puzzle has dR. Each successful check (with description) by the characters allows them to roll the dR. Puzzle solved when stepped below d4. After each PC has a check, roll on an encounter die or another dR, which is something bad happening (like solve the puzzle before something else happens). (I admit this may take too long and be the mechanics solving the problem as opposed to the players, but I had fun when I tried it.)
