  2. Why not! I'll try that.
In Searcher if the Unknown / The Moon and the 12 lotus, PCs Always succes. If the dice is below the ability it's full success. If it's above, it's a partial success. You only fail with a 20. In game the characters are really heroes but most of the time with a cost.

  3. It'd be interesting to try, but you'd have to decide what a partial success means in combat.
If it's exchange harm as established each side deals damage, it will make things more dangerous.
That's perfectly in line with what MM tries to do, but maybe make healing more common as a balance mechanism?

  4. i mean, like with dw, a partial success in combat just means that the gm uses a monster move, so it could be dealing damage, or it could be calling for reinforcements, or your toes begin to turn to stone, depending on the monster.

  5. I hadn't though of it this way Jennifer Erixon. It's not very OSR-y, but it would definitely work. Now I really want to try running a game like this!

  6. Eric Nieudan yeah, but it can break up the monotony of trading damage, "sure, you cut off the nose of the seadog, but he ensares you in his net" "you disarm the gorgon, but she catches your eye, and your arm grows heavy as your fingers turn to stone" "the goblin manages to blow his horn loud and clear before his head rolls across the rumbling cave floor." i still don't know what is and isn't osr, but i like games, so idk, but i love monster moves from dw, short and simple, narrative but punchy.
