A little cave complex for my Macchiato Monsters game tonight.

A little cave complex for my Macchiato Monsters game tonight. Sort of fussy and Sci Fi for a fantasy map, but I'm a systems guy. A combination of freehand sketch of the caves and Paint.net and some great free and paid fonts including my fave, HexPaperPro by S. John Ross

  1. Nice! I don't think it looks too sci-fi at all... What's the logic behind the room numbers?

  2. Eric Nieudan Well, its like this. Let's call the format NNnn:

"NN" is the section of the dungeon. A simple grouping. Usually I do it by monster area or point of interest or what have you, but this time I did it by vertical level, so 00 is ground, -01 is, say, 10-20 feet down or so from ground, 02 is 20-30 feet up, etc.

"nn" is the room or area number, the subgroup within the group. So in this case -0103 would be the third likely area to be found in the "one depth down" group.

And I always use leading zeroes in numbering so that my table entries line up when laying out with a monospace font, like so:
