Has anyone played with a party of characters with mismatched levels - like maybe one or two first level characters...
Has anyone played with a party of characters with mismatched levels - like maybe one or two first level characters and others as high as fourth or fifth? Is it un-fun for the players of the low level characters?

My main campaign is an open West Marches style game on roll20. I frequently have new players create new characters before going on an expedition with experienced aventurers. Some people don't come back, but I couldn't say if it is because of the gameplay, my GMing style, or the fact their felt underpowered... Quite a few keep playing though.
ReplyDeleteBut I suspect it works just like in most other OS games: it's more about finding fictional solutions to problems than relying on your character sheet to go through them. A smart player should be able to have fun with a weaker character.
